As part of the search, officers, dog units and a helicopter were all dispatched yesterday at around 11am. Police remain in attendance at both sites. The couple's flat was cordoned off and under police guard yesterday, as two officers in white forensic suits spent around an hour in the property. Ms Sturrock, originally from Wick, Caithness, had posted a picture on social media of her enjoying a dinner with friends in Glasgow days earlier. Helicopter search teams could be seen above the park as the hunt for a 'missing person' intensified yesterday. I think it every day.Police Scotland have launched an investigation, confirming that the death is being treated as suspicious and is linked to an ongoing search for a missing person Have I told you lately that I love you? I hope so. Thank you for choosing to obey as often as you do. You were the first to understand that obedience is more important than writing. You know when to listen and when to ask for more details. When a story falls apart, you’re ready to hear the next idea. Is there such a thing as professional husband-of-awriter? If there is, you have certainly entered into the class. You are a treasure, as well as a dear friend. I think this book came together so quickly because you cheered and laughed in all the right places. Thanks, Mom, for your listening ear when we walk. You have been a great example and a help to me. Thank you for heading to the Word for comfort and strength, knowing it was the only place for the real thing. Thank you for keeping your eyes on Christ when the darkness tried to crowd in. Thank you for making us part of the family. Thank you for your patience and enthusiasm. You’re the first to know that plans don’t always proceed without interruptions. I thank God for allowing me to be part of this family. Holidays and birthdays would not be the same without you. Thank you for the special friends you are. Thank you for all of the love, support, and interest over the years. My brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Ann Wick, Darrell and Jane Kolstad, Chris and Margaret Arenas, and John and Cheryl Wick. I couldn’t do that unless my own world was full of people who challenge and encourage me. I’m having a wonderful time writing about what I imagine life might have been like during this time in England’s history. It’s hard to believe I’m finished with the third book in this series.

The Visitor by Lori Wick

‘The Russian greats truly shine in this account but Saunders is the real star. Published now, it feels like a vital and civilising corrective to the pretend certainties of public life – and, increasingly, of our personal lives too’ Telegraph ‘Published any time, A Swim in a Pond in the Rain would be a joyous reminder that fiction is the most effective mode of mind-to-mind communication ever devised. The process of writing, Saunders reminds us, is a technical craft, but also a way of training oneself to see the world with new openness and curiosity.Ī Swim in a Pond in the Rain is a deep exploration not just of how great writing works but of how the mind itself works while reading, and of how the reading and writing of stories make genuine connection possible. In his introduction, Saunders writes, “We're going to enter seven fastidiously constructed scale models of the world, made for a specific purpose that our time maybe doesn't fully endorse but that these writers accepted implicitly as the aim of art-namely, to ask the big questions, questions like, How are we supposed to be living down here? What were we put here to accomplish? What should we value? What is truth, anyway, and how might we recognize it?” He approaches the stories technically yet accessibly, and through them explains how narrative functions why we stay immersed in a story and why we resist it and the bedrock virtues a writer must foster. Paired with iconic short stories by Chekhov, Turgenev, Tolstoy, and Gogol, the seven essays in this book are intended for anyone interested in how fiction works and why it's more relevant than ever in these turbulent times. In A Swim in a Pond in the Rain, he shares a version of that class with us, offering some of what he and his students have discovered together over the years.
