I will still be sticking with my vote for Girl at War, although I am honestly not all that confident it will be able to beat out books like After You by Jojo Moyes and Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff.

Looking back through my Goodreads shelf, I see that the next book I read after Dark Places was The Twelve by Justin Cronin – another dark, but awesome book.
